황학수 前 국회의원은 "이번 추모식은 80주년 유엔의날을 기념하고, 2025 경주APEC 및 한·미 UN군 혈맹 강화를 기원하기 위해 거행되는 행사이다"라며, "6.25전쟁 참전 16개국인 미국, 영국, 오스트레일리아, 캐나다, 네덜란드, 뉴질랜드, 프랑스, 터키, 필리핀, 태국, 그리스, 남아프리카공화국, 에티오피아, 콜롬비아, 벨기에, 룩셈부르크의 참전 영웅들의 넋을 기리고자 한다"라고 밝혔다.

Former National Assembly member Hwang Hak-soo stated, “This memorial ceremony is held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of UN Day and to pray for the success of the 2025 Gyeongju APEC and the strengthening of the blood alliance between Korea and the US UN forces.” He added, “We honor the spirits of the war heroes from the 16 nations that participated in the Korean War: the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, France, Turkey, the Philippines, Thailand, Greece, South Africa, Ethiopia, Colombia, Belgium, and Luxembourg.”
